Free Stuff for the Teen Sailing Program
1) Free Sailing Fundamentals textbook. This is the official learn-to-sail manual of the American Sailing Association and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. The book follows our course step by step. It is written by Gary Jobson in an easy to read manner. And the book includes many pictures and diagrams which make sailing easy to understand and learn. 2) Free American Sailing Association Official International Log Book. This will become your sailing passport. It's designed to record your sailing hours and document your certifications.
3) Free
certification
to the American Sailing Association Basic Sailing Standard. If your teen
wishes to become certified at the end of the course, we will allow them to
challenge the ASA standard free of charge. This means they will
demonstrate to their instructor all the required on-water skills and take a
multiple choice test to test their theoretical knowledge. Students who
pass the standard receive a certification seal from the ASA. Challenging
the ASA standard at the end of the course is optional and not required. 4) Free Gill brand sailing gloves. Sailing gloves really help protect the hands of new sailors. Sailing is an active sport and teens will be hoisting the sails, pulling the halyards and trimming the sheets. After a few days of this physical work, exposed hands start to show wear and tear. We provide free sailing gloves to all of our teens. They are one more "cool" aspect of sailing. 5) 3 free Crew t-shirts. We get all kids in the mood by getting them in the clothing. Each teen receives 3 free t-shirts which are printed with the word "Crew" on the back. On the front is the Manhattan Sailing School logo. |
