Options After Basic Sailing

Basic Sailing is just the start of your adventure.  Sailing will become an important part of your life. You will sail in the harbor during the summer, travel to the Caribbean in winter and enjoy many other sailing locations.

After graduating from Basic Sailing, here are some of the many options you have to continue sailing.

Book a ride with Dennis Conner's America's Cup Experience.  You can sign up to go sailing on one of Dennis Conner's America's Cup training boats.  These are super high-performance boats are exciting to sail.  A great value, incredible experience and excellent way to keep sailing week after week!
Join the Manhattan Sailing Club - Manhattan Sailing Club is the leading sailing organization in NY Harbor. Membership in the club allows you to use the club fleet for sailing and participate in the many cruising and racing programs.  Plus it is the best social network of sailors in the cityAnd with the floating clubhouse in the harbor, the club offers you great entertainment opportunities for friends, family and business associates.
Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) - Our next level ASA course after Basic Sailing is an overnight sailing adventure. Two days of sailing on the beautiful J/105 "Gratitude." This course includes navigation, operating an inboard engine and if the weather is good, flying a spinnaker.
Basic Dinghy Sailing (ASA 110).  After completing a Basic Sailing Course, you can enroll in Basic Dinghy Sailing and begin to accelerate your learning curve.
Dinghy Sailing Level 2 -
Private Lessons - We offer private lessons.  This is a great way to get super personalized attention.  You can also use private lessons to practice or learn specific sailing skills.  Private lessons are available by yourself or with a group.

De Caribbean Regatta - Join our instructors for a week-long sailing vacation. Every winter, we lead a flotilla of boats for a fun filled cruise in the Caribbean. You can sign up by yourself or with friends and enjoy your vacation in paradise.  Speaking like a pirate is optional.
bareboat-small.jpg (3570 bytes) Bareboat Chartering (ASA 104) - Each winter, we teach a bareboat chartering course as part of our Caribbean vacation. You'll get a double-bonus, a week of relaxing vacation plus a hands-on education in bareboat chartering.
Advanced Coastal Cruising (ASA 106) - Each winter we offer an Advanced Coastal Cruising as part of De Caribbean Regatta.  This course includes an overnight sail.
chart-of-harbor-small.jpg (4596 bytes) Coastal Navigation (ASA 105) - Every sailor should know and understand the fundamentals of Coastal Navigation.  This course will help you keep track of your vessel’s position and predict where you will be in the future. It's a great course to take during the off-season!
ASA Radar Course (ASA Radar) - The Radar Course teaches safe and efficient use of small-craft radar for piloting, chart navigation and collision avoidance.  This includes radar principles as well as practical matters of radar operation. 
Teen Sailing Program - During summer vacation, teens can sign up for week long sailing camps.  Give your teen a lifelong memory!

Sail on 12 Meter "America II."  "America II is the flagship of Manhattan Sailing Club.  She competed in the America's Cup in 1987 in Freemantle, Australia.  Now she has come home to New York City and goes sailing in the evenings and on weekends.  You can book a spot to sail on this important piece of yachting history.
