Basic Coastal Cruising is 2 days of sailing. You begin with a Friday evening classroom session at the North Cove docks.  Then you push off from dock on Saturday morning and spend the day working on the course while sailing to either Manhasset Bay on Long Island Sound or Atlantic Highlands on Sandy Hook Bay.

Manhasset Bay: Depending on currents, you will transit the East River in the morning or afternoon and continue sailing on Long Island Sound.  On Saturday night, Gratitude takes a mooring off the
Manhasset Bay Yacht Club..  Students can reserve a room at the club.

Atlantic Highlands
Harbor:  http://www.ahnj.com/ahnj/  you will sail under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and on to Sandy Hook navigating through busy commercial shipping channels replete with a variety of aids to navigation. You will dock in Atlantic Highlands, dine at one of the fine restaurants on shore and spend the night at the nearby Comfort Inn (732-671-3400) or the Blue Bay Inn, which is within walking distance to the marina.  http://www.newjerseyshorehotel.com
