Day 1 - Mayreau (Righteous Robert's)

On Day 1, all skippers walked into the briefing room at 10 a.m. and got the news.  The wind was coming up.  And it was expected to stay up for the next three days.  It was an exciting regatta from the beginning.

Our first day had planned on sailing towards Bequia.  But with the high winds, it was deemed significantly more prudent to go downwind towards Mayreau first.  This had also been the suggestion of Jim before the regatta.

So by gathering all the skippers around, explaining the wind and forecast, it was decided that we would also sail to Mayreau for the evening and then meet up again the next evening at Clifton Harbor.

Mayreau was a great first stop.  Salt Whistle Bay was already full and not that protected so most boats went to Saline Bay.  The Walk to the top of the hill with its views out to Tobago Cays is stunning.  You can walk up from Saline or Salt Whistle Bays.  The place to hang near the top is Righteous Robert's.  Big party there when we come back again.
