Bareboat chartering is taught each winter as part of our Caribbean Regatta.  (We also teach Basic Coastal Cruising during the regatta.)

Each course is explained below:

Bareboat Chartering

The third level course at our school is Bareboat Chartering.  This course provides you with ASA certification.

Bareboat Chartering will teach you:

  • Trip Planning
  • Living Afloat
  • Weather & Seamanship
  • Maintenance Procedures
  • Maneuvering & Docking
  • Electrical & Water Systems
  • Refrigeration & Marine Stoves
  • Dinghy Use
  • Anchoring
  • Course Plotting & GPS

Bareboat Chartering is offered every winter as part of our week-long Caribbean Vacation.  This course is taught on a new 40-foot sailboat.

Each course is limited to 5 students.

At the end of this course, you can challenge the Bareboat Chartering ASA Standard.  This involves a written test. After passing the test, you will receive a certification seal from the ASA to put into your sailing log book.

Cost & Schedule

Tuition for Bareboat Chartering or Basic Coastal Cruising is $350 per person in addition to the Caribbean Regatta fee
