ASA Certification

Our school offers the following American Sailing Association certifications:

ASA certification is an option, not a requirement.  When you register for a course, you can check a box to specify if you want ASA certification.  ASA charges an additional $40 for certification.  Included in this fee is a one year membership with ASA and a subscription to Sailing magazine.

If you choose ASA certification, you will demonstrate the required on-water skills to your instructor during the course.  You will also take a multiple choice test on theoretical knowledge and if you pass, ASA will issue you a certification seal for your sailing logbook.

ASA certification is not required.  You can take any class without getting certified.  However, to become ASA certified to advanced levels such as Bareboat Chartering, you will need to be ASA certified to all of the lower levels such as Basic Sailing and Basic Coastal Cruising.
